How to Create Your Organization Account¶
Register your business, PR firm, nonprofit, or community group on Inbox so you can submit press releases to local newsrooms and deliver your news directly into editors' editorial workflows. Registration takes about five minutes, plus a quick email verification.
Does your organization already have an account?
If a colleague has already registered your organization, don't create a second one. Ask them to send you a team invitation instead. You'll get an email with a link that adds you to the existing organization.
Before You Begin¶
You will need:
- Access to the email inbox you want to register with (a verification link is sent there)
- Your organization's public details: website, public contact email, and phone
- Your organization's US mailing address: it is checked against postal records, so have the real street address ready
Instructions¶
Start Your Registration¶
-
Go to the registration page at https://business.pluckyworks.org/register/.
If a newsroom pointed you to its own branded Inbox site, register there instead. The steps are identical, and your account will work the same way.
-
The setup wizard opens ("Set up your organization on …") with a progress bar showing its three steps: Verify account, Organization profile, and Invite team.
Create Your Account¶
Fill in the account fields. All of them are required:
| Field | Required? | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| First name | Required | Your own first name: this identifies you, not your organization. |
| Last name | Required | Your last name. |
| Required | The address you'll sign in with. The verification link is sent here. | |
| Confirm email | Required | The same address again, to catch typos. |
| Password | Required | At least 10 characters. |
| Confirm password | Required | The same password again. |
-
Click Send verification email.
-
A page titled "Check your email." appears. Open your inbox and click the verification link in the email.
The verification email's subject line starts with "Verify your" and names the site you registered on.
Fill Out Your Organization Profile¶
Clicking the verification link returns you to the wizard at the Organization profile step. This information appears on your organization's public page, so enter it as you want editors and readers to see it.
| Field | Required? | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Organization name | Required | Your organization's public name, as it should appear on press releases. |
| Website | Optional | Your organization's website address. |
| Public contact email | Required | The address journalists should use to reach your organization. This can differ from your sign-in email. |
| Public contact phone | Optional | A phone number for journalists. |
| Short description | Optional | Up to 500 characters about your organization. Shown on your public organization page. |
| Street address | Required | Your organization's real US street address. It is validated against postal records before your profile is saved. |
| Suite, floor or unit | Optional | Any second address line. |
| City | Required | The city for the address above. |
| State | Required | The two-letter state abbreviation (for example, OR). |
| ZIP code | Required | The ZIP code for the address above. |
Click Continue to team invitations when you're done.
Invite Your Team¶
This step is optional: you can add teammates now or skip it and invite them later.
-
Enter a name and email address for each colleague who should have access. Click + Add another to add more rows.
-
Optionally, write a short invitation note. Your teammates will see it in their invitation email.
-
Click Send invitations & finish, or Skip — finish to continue without inviting anyone.
What Happens Next¶
- You are signed in and land on your organization's dashboard, where you can start your first press release right away.
- Your organization gets a public profile page showing the name, description, and contact details you entered. It links from every press release you distribute.
- Any teammates you invited receive an email with a link to create their own account inside your organization. They can write and distribute submissions; as the account creator, you can also manage the organization's profile and team.
Next Steps¶
- Submit and distribute a press release: your dashboard is ready for your first submission
- How Inbox works: the big picture, if you haven't read it yet
Troubleshooting¶
- The verification email never arrived: Check your spam or junk folder for a subject line starting with "Verify your". If it's not there, restart the registration. Corporate mail filters sometimes block automated messages, so a personal address can help you test.
- My address won't validate: The address is checked against US postal records. Double-check the street number, spelling, city, and ZIP code, and use the official street address rather than a colloquial name for the building.
- My password is rejected: Passwords must be at least 10 characters long.
- I already have an account but forgot my password: Go to https://business.pluckyworks.org/forgot-password/ and follow the reset link you receive by email.
