How to Request a Correction or Report an Organization

Tell the sender of a press release exactly what needs fixing, or flag an organization that is misusing the platform. Both actions take under a minute from the press release's preview page.

Before You Begin

You will need:

Use a correction request for a factual problem in one release: a wrong date, a misspelled name, a broken figure. Use a report for a pattern that belongs in front of Plucky staff: spam, impersonation, prohibited content.

Instructions

Request a Correction

  1. Open the press release's preview page and click Request a correction.

  2. A pop-up window called a modal opens. The note you write here goes to the submitting organization by email, and they can respond by publishing a correction to the release.

  3. In What needs correcting?, be specific: which paragraph, and what is wrong with it. The sender sees your note verbatim.

  4. Click Send request. A "Correction requested" confirmation appears: the submitting organization has been notified, and if they publish a correction, the updated release will appear in your feed.

Report an Organization

  1. Open any of the organization's releases and click Report this organization.

  2. In the "Report this organization" modal, fill in Reason (why this organization should be reviewed for misuse or prohibited content) and optionally Evidence, a URL or description supporting the report.

  3. Click Submit report. A platform admin looks at every report.

What Happens Next

  • After a correction request: the sending organization gets an email with your note. It says a newsroom requested a correction without naming your Outlet, and a banner stays on their submission until they act. If they publish a correction, it passes review like any submission and then replaces the release in your Paid Content tab. You don't need to do anything further.
  • After a report: the report goes to Plucky's platform administrators, not to the organization. Repeated or serious misuse can lead to the organization's suspension from the platform.

Troubleshooting

  • The sender hasn't responded to my correction request: Publishing a correction is the sender's decision, on their schedule. The original release stays available in the meantime. You always control whether and how you cover it.
  • I requested a correction but meant to report abuse: The two go to different places: correction requests go to the sender; reports go to Plucky staff. Submit a report as well; the earlier correction request does no harm.
